My Story
Christopher Atamu is an entrepreneur, mentor, athlete, and community advocate whose life story is rooted in resilience, determination, and the belief that your circumstances do not have to determine your future.
Born to a Jamaican mother and a Māori/Samoan father, Christopher grew up in the streets of Kingston, Jamaica, experiencing extreme poverty and circumstances that forced him to develop strength and resourcefulness at an early age. There were times when survival was the priority. If he did not hunt or fish for food, there was a very real possibility that he would not eat. Growing up surrounded by violence, instability, and the conflict he experienced in Kingston taught him lessons that no classroom could provide—how to survive, adapt, remain alert, and keep moving forward when life gives you very little to work with.
Those early experiences became the foundation of Christopher's mindset.
Basketball eventually became one of the most important chapters of his life. Christopher went on to play professional basketball overseas for six years, experiencing different countries, cultures, and environments while competing at a high level. But his greatest athletic challenge came after an accident left him unable to walk for an entire year.
For many people, that could have been the end of the journey.
For Christopher, it became another beginning.
He fought through the physical and emotional challenges of recovery and refused to accept that his inability to walk would define the rest of his life. Step by step, literally, he rebuilt himself. Eventually, he was not only walking again—he was running and jumping again.
That experience reinforced a principle that has remained central to his life:
You can lose your circumstances without losing your ability to fight for your future.
Christopher carried that mentality into entrepreneurship. Starting with zero dollars, he built and launched multiple successful businesses, learning firsthand how to create opportunities without having the luxury of starting with resources, connections, or financial advantages. His journey has taught him that entrepreneurship is not simply about making money—it is about solving problems, creating opportunities, developing people, and building something that can outlast you.
Today, one of Christopher's greatest passions is helping young people understand that their starting point does not have to become their destination.
That mission is at the heart of CEM Ventures aka The BluePrint, Christopher's passion project and a platform dedicated to community, mentorship, guidance, personal growth, career development, health and fitness, finance, and business. CEM Ventures' flagship program, The Blueprint, is built around the idea that meaningful transformation requires structure, accountability, mentorship, and a long-term commitment to personal development. The program provides individualized guidance designed to help people navigate obstacles, develop their mindset, and become capable of creating the future they envision.
For Christopher, mentorship is personal.
He knows what it feels like to have very little.
He knows what it feels like to struggle.
He knows what it feels like to lose the ability to do something you once took for granted.
He knows what it feels like to start a business with nothing.
And he knows what it means to get back up when life tells you that you should stay down.
Christopher's mission is to take those experiences and turn them into lessons that can help the next generation.
He wants young people to understand that their environment may influence their beginning, but it does not have to control their ending. His goal is to help young people develop the mindset, discipline, confidence, skills, and direction necessary to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.
His story is not simply about where he came from.
It is about what he chose to become.
From the streets of Kingston to international basketball courts, from being unable to walk to running and jumping again, and from building businesses with nothing to creating a platform dedicated to helping others, Christopher Atamu's life represents one fundamental belief:
Your past may explain where you started, but your determination can change where you finish.
Through CEM Ventures aka The BluPrint, Christopher is committed to giving others the mentorship, guidance, accountability, and opportunity that can help them transform their own lives—and ultimately, transform their communities.
